This simple form of raised bowl is directing attention to the timbers used. An elegant modular form with an interesting balancing act between its three shapes. A lovely bowl for food or ornamental enjoyment.
Material
Bowl - Swamp Kauri (Recycled)
The grain in the bowl appears to have a burl pattern, which is a rare feature of Swamp Kauri. The wavy and irregular lines result when the tree experiences abnormal growth.
This piece was created by re-carving a found object from an antique shop. To give it new life, I filled the centre hole with a tiny dowel and crafted a sub-disc piece to ensure a perfect fit with the bottom pedestal.
